pediatric foot care

Children’s feet grow and change quickly — which is why early foot care can prevent long-term issues. At Waterdown Foot Clinic, our chiropodists provide gentle, evidence-based care for a range of common pediatric foot and ankle conditions. From flat feet to ingrown toenails, we help kids move comfortably and confidently through every stage of development.

Flat Feet (Flexible Pes Planus)

It’s normal for young children to have flat feet, but if your child complains of foot pain, fatigue, or difficulty with activity, an assessment may be needed. We provide supportive footwear guidance and custom orthotics if necessary.

Toe Walking

Occasional toe walking is common in toddlers, but persistent toe walking may indicate muscle tightness or neurological concerns. We assess gait patterns and provide treatment or referral as needed.

In-Toeing and Out-Toeing

If your child walks with their feet turned inward or outward, it could be related to bone development. These conditions often resolve with growth, but we monitor for issues that affect balance or coordination.

Sever’s Disease (Heel Pain in Children)

This growth plate condition causes heel pain in active children, especially during or after sports. We offer heel lifts, stretching, and activity modifications to reduce discomfort.

Plantar Warts

Caused by a common virus, plantar warts can be painful and persistent. We offer gentle, child-friendly wart treatments to remove them safely.

Ingrown Toenails

Tight shoes, improper nail trimming, or natural nail shape can cause painful, inflamed toenails. We provide safe nail care and, when needed, minor procedures under local anesthesia.

Athlete’s Foot (Tinea Pedis)

Fungal infections are common in older children and teens, especially those who play sports or use communal showers. We offer effective antifungal treatments and hygiene guidance.

Growing Pains & Leg Fatigue

If your child complains of aching legs or feet — especially after activity — it may be due to overuse, poor foot mechanics, or flat feet. We assess alignment and recommend appropriate support.
